Our Menu

The menu is our strength with a wide variety of vegetarian and non-vegetarian delicacies on offer. What is most striking about the restaurant are the numerous choices it offers to people who have a palette for fishes and a desire to try out different varieties of fishes generally not available in standard restaurants. May it be Ilish Bhapa, Bhetki Bhapa, Pabada Sorish or Parse Jhol, Sola Ana Odiya has the largest collection of fish varieties on offer in town. Likewise in Mutton and Chicken, the restaurant serves them cooked with the ingredients which are typical of the coastal belt of Orissa. Sola Ana Odiya completes its wide gamut of sea food offerings with Crab Curry and Pomfret preparation which are finger licking good.

In the vegetarian section, you will get to select from almost all the available varieties of curries and bhajas so integral to an Oriya Meal cooked with a diligence which will leave you ordering for more. Whether its Dahi Baigana or Dahi Potol, Manja Rai or Aloo Bhaja, Sola Ana Odiya is diversity personified with the choices it offers.

Another trademark offering from the restaurant is Ghee Bhat and Macher Matha Diya Mung Dal which are chosen favorite of many diners. Anyone who has tried it once has instantly liked it. If calories intake is not a problem for you, then the two dishes should be right up there at the top of your order list.

Sweets

No meal is complete without a delicious dessert and Sola Ana Odiya takes extreme care to serve you with nothing but the best of Oriya Sweets.

Sola Ana Odiya - a different experience...

Before coming to stay in Bhubaneswar I was in Chennai for 3 odd years and there, as most of us know, food is an issue for northies (anyone who is not a telgu, mallu and tamil is a northy for the people of Chennai). But all these days in Chennai I could locate a restaurant called "Annapurna - authentic Calcutta cuisine" where the food was really delicious and "authentic". I have never been to Sola Ana Bangali, the parent restaurant of Sola Ana Odiya but I can say for sure Annapurna's offerings are more or less similar.
On some odd day I landed up in Sola Ana Odiya and was overwhelmed to see some ethnic items in the menue like Paturi and Bhappa - those I tried only in Annapurna. When the dishes were served I was absolutely floored with the taste and preparation of the items. Sola Ana Odiya was much different from Annapurna in its awesome ambience and the traditional Oriya outlook. The service is excellent as there will be someone always taking care of you and taking your feedback on the food being served. When I was contented with my meal and was looking around enjoying the ambience, I was asked about deserts. They have limited items in deserts but they are just mouth watering. I ordered Mal-pua as it usually seems different from other Oriya sweets. When I tasted it. . .wow. .it was just amazing. It is a slightly differentiated offering - normal mal pua ladden wit pure ghee and stuffed with cardamom garnished fried chenna (milk-cheese). That was the final shot from Sola Ana Odiya which made me its loyal cutomer and a all time big fan. Friends, just come and see for yourself - you will feel at home trying out dishes there and getting served with high care in an amicable ambience.

Odiya food review from a Mumbaikar’s perspective

The food, culture, tastes and palates differ greatly across our diverse nation. So having lived in the western part of India all my life, living in the east for two years, was a welcome change in terms of food experimentation. Here in Orissa, the flavours and spices used are very different; usually mild and delicately spiced; unlike the rest of India. Also since vegetarianism is low here, it is a little difficult to find traditional Odiya cuisine cooked with vegetables. But thankfully, places like Sola Ana Odiya, are some of the very few that specialize in both vegetarian and non-vegetarian traditional Odiya food. And to complete the experience the place is replete with traditional Odiya-art inspired interiors to create a wonderful mood that blends in with the aromatic steam coming out of the kitchen. Non-vegetarians will laugh if you tell them that you got out of the place without having a fish curry or chicken. But trust me, the vegetarian food, though a little bland for spice-lovers’ taste, is authentic and does justice to the traditional menu of the state.

The traditional luchi (flour bread deep fried in oil) is light and tastes great. For non-calorie-conscious food lovers like me, it can be a perfect combination with aloo poshto or bhaja. The ghee rice n yellow dal is sinfully rich and yet homely to let you experience the flavour of ghar-ka-dal-chawal with a yummy Odiya twist. All the chhena (ricotta cheese) dishes are great too and so are the chhenna sweets. The simple yet sumptuous meals can be concluded with a delightfully ghee-laden Malpua (sweetened deep-fried mixture of flour and bananas) or the traditional Rosogullas (cheese dumplings dipped in sugar syrup) to bring a grand end to the typically Odiya indulgence!

A must-try-out restaurant if you visit Bhubaneswar or if you already live there and haven’t yet been to the place. Enjoy the food and live life king-size...A royal thumps-up from us XIMBians!!
